NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A memorial service was set for Tuesday for Myls Dobson, the 4-year-old boy who was a victim of abuse before he died earlier this month.
Visitation was set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and funeral services for 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the First Corinthian Baptist Church, 1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.READ MORE: NYPD: 2 Gunman Wanted After 10 Shot In Front Of Queens Business; 'A Brazen, Coordinated Attack'
Authorities have said Myls was starved, beaten and tortured to death.
His father, Okee Wade, was arrested last month on bank fraud allegations – leaving Myls in the care of his father’s girlfriend – Kryzie King, 27, who is now charged in the case.
King, 27, told police she had put the boy on the bathroom counter and left the room briefly. Police said King told them Dobson fell and landed in the empty bathtub in her Midtown apartment.READ MORE: COVID In New York: Mask Mandates Not Being Re-Imposed Just Yet As Concern Grows Over Delta Variant
Prosecutors, however, said King tortured and starved Myls. They said King admitted to burning and beating Myls, as well as leaving him outside in the freezing cold.
King was arrested earlier this month and is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment. She was reportedly indicted Wednesday, but because the indictment will not be unsealed until Feb. 5, it’s unknown what charges the grand jury voted for.NYPD: 3 Shot In Washington Heights, No Arrests
