Air Force Service Member Foils TJ Maxx Robbery In Evesham Township, N.J.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The robber was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A man wearing dark clothes and a ski mask walked into the TJ Maxx store on Route 73, went directly to the jewelry counter, and immediately smashed a rock through the glass case, police said.

The whole incident was caught on surveillance video.

The video shows the robbery suspect reaching into the case again and again.

The man grabbed $25,797 worth of watches and stuffed them into a bag and turned around to leave the store.

As the suspect made a run for it, another man is seen on the tape walking toward him, and then breaking into a run and tackling him to the ground.

The two struggled on the floor, and the suspect lost his mask - and the loot, police said.

The man who took him down was an active member of the USAF, police said.

The suspect was able to run out of the store. He was seen wearing an orange shirt. Police describe him as "a light skinned black male with light facial hair in his late twenties."
