Queens Man Accused Of Stealing SUV, Attempted Sexual Assault Of Girl Inside

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Queens man was arrested and charged after he allegedly stole a vehicle with a 13-year-old girl inside and tried to sexually assault her.

On Thursday, just before 8 p.m. police said officers responded to a 911 call from a 28-year-old male on Sutphin Boulevard and 109 Avenue who said his 2002 Ford Explorer had been stolen while his niece was in the back seat sleeping.

Officers from the Queens Gang Squad located the SUV near 147 Street and Rockaway Boulevard and arrested 23-year-old Kapri Dickson, authorities said.

Following an investigation, police said they believe Dickson attempted to sexually assault the 13-year-old girl in the back seat of the SUV.

According to officials, the victim yelled and attempted to push Dickson off of her, at which time the he struck her in the face and threw her out of the car.

The girl was taken to an area hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Dickson is charged with first-degree kidnapping, sex abuse, grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
