Officials Hand-Off Hosting Responsibilities As Super Bowl Sunday Approaches

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Saturday, is the last day before the big game and the last full day of festivities in Times Square.

Mayor De Blasio was in Midtown to take part in the fun ahead of the hand-off ceremony, 1010 WINS reported.

Officials Hand-Off Hosting Responsibilities As Super Bowl Sunday Approaches

New York and New Jersey Super Bowl Host Committee leaders joined with city and state officials to hand off hosting duties to representatives from Arizona Saturday afternoon.

In addition to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Gov. Chris Christie, and Mayor De Blasio; NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and a host of other host committee members from the New York/New Jersey area and from Arizona were on hand for the event.

Another big Super Bowl event that took place Saturday was the "The Beach Bowl," which took place at Pier 40

Security will remain a top priority through the end of the big game.

Outside of the stadium bomb sniffing dogs and x-ray machines will be seeking out explosives. Police boats will patrol the water near Met Life Stadium, and SWAT teams will be on the lookout for weapons of mass destruction, 1010 WINS reported.

Weather at kickoff is expected to be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid forties.
