Rockettes To Debut New Show At Radio City Music Hall This Spring

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Christmas may have come and gone, but that doesn't mean the world-famous Rockettes are taking a break.

New York's high steppers have a brand new show coming to Radio City Music Hall this spring called "Heart And Lights."

"It's this amazing story about two young cousins that travel through New York City discovering about their grandmother's life and passion," Alissa, of the Rockettes, said. "We're going to bring you all through the city stopping at places like the Fashion District, Wall Street, the New York Public Library, Grand Central Terminal."

"It's a very large production, there's puppetry that are over 20-feet-tall, there's flying kites throughout the hall," Katie of the Rockettes said.

The Rockettes have been rehearsing for the show for weeks.

"We actually rehearse six hours a day, six days a week for about six weeks before we get to the theater. It is very rigorous, especially with the show, it's something very different," Alissa said. "We have a lot of contemporary, modern style dances which show our athleticism, but we also keep our precision technique that we are obviously most well known for."

The Rockettes will give a sneak peek performance at Grand Central Terminal at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

"We'll be performing one of the numbers from the show that's called 'Electricity,'" Katie said. "We have jackets with 152 LED lights and the lights change with our movement."

The show will debut March 27 and run through May 4.

"This type of show is one of a kind that can only be done at Radio City Music Hall," Alissa said. "It'll definitely make visitors and residents fall in love with New York City again, which is why we love it."
