Family-Focused Jeter Reportedly Making Up With Hannah Davis
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Derek Jeter is saying goodbye to baseball and hello -- again, apparently -- to former flame Hannah Davis.
The New York Yankees captain is "trying to work things out" with Davis after their relationship hit the skids in recent months, according to the New York Post.
The paper reported two weeks ago that the couple had split. At the time, it was speculated that Jeter may have had an issue with Davis' newfound fame as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.
Jeter has announced his plans to retire following the 2014 season. The 39-year-old shortstop, whose dating prowess has become New York legend, declined to explain why exactly this was the right time to hang 'em up during a press conference Wednesday.
But he did mention a desire to start his own Jeter clan.
"I want to have a family," he said. "That's important to me. I have the utmost respect for all these guys who have kids and families and being away (during the season). I have a nephew and you miss so many things and I don't know how you guys do it.
"Time is important and there are some things I look forward to doing."
