1 Dead, 6 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Wreck On I-87

WOODBURY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are continuing to investigate a deadly wreck involving several vehicles that shut down the northbound lanes of the New York State Thruway in Orange County for several hours on Wednesday.

The accident, which involved a Thruway Authority plow truck, a tractor-trailer and four cars, happened around 10:45 a.m. on Interstate 87 at exit 16 in Woodbury, police said.

One person was killed in the wreck. Police have identified the victim as 53-year-old Mark Becker of Hillsdale, N.J.

Six other people were injured.

The crash blocked all northbound lanes, but one was reopened around 4 p.m. and all previous detours had been removed.

All northbound lanes reopened just before 5 p.m., the Thruway Authority announced.
