Jets Releasing Pro Bowl Cornerback Antonio Cromartie
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Antonio Cromartie, the outspoken shutdown cornerback for the Jets the past four seasons, is parting ways with Gang Green.
Cromartie posted a series of tweets Sunday afternoon indicating he is being released, a fact that ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed.
Speculation that Cromartie, 29, would be a salary cap casualty began to surface even before the 2013 season ended. His cap figure for 2014 was set to be around $15 million. His release will create about $9.5 million in cap space.
