Reports: Giants, Linebacker Jon Beason Agree To New Deal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- After a busy day on Tuesday, the Giants were back at it on Wednesday.

According to multiple reports, the Giants and linebacker Jon Beason have agreed to a new deal.

The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

General manager Jerry Reese was determined to bring Beason back, according to the New York Daily News, and had been working to re-sign him for weeks. The newspaper reports that the Broncos had interest in the veteran.

The three-time Pro Bowler was traded to the G-Men from the Panthers for a seventh-round pick on October 4, 2013.

He was a spark plug for New York's defense, recording 93 combined tackles and an interception in 12 games with Big Blue.

In other Giants news, the organization was scheduled to have offensive guard Shelley Smith at its facility for a visit on Wednesday.

Smith, 26, has played in 25 games -- eight of them starts -- for the Rams over the past two years.

The deals for running back Rashad Jennings and offensive tackle Geoff Schwartz became official on Wednesday.
