Police Believe Man, 82, Killed Woman, Wounded Man And Shot Self On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Friday night believed an 82-year-old man shot and killed a woman, and wounded another man, in a Staten Island home Friday before shooting and wounding himself, sources said.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to Rockwell and Clifton avenues on Staten Island, where they found the older man lying outside his car with a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

They were later sent to a house on Virginia Avenue, in the Rosebank section of Staten Island, where they found a 47-year-old man in front of the home and a 28-year-old woman inside – both with gunshots to the head.

The man was reported in critical condition, and the woman was pronounced dead, at Staten Island University Hospital, police said.

Investigations have concluded that the older man shot the younger man as he approached the house, and shot the woman inside, police alleged. The older man then allegedly got in his car and drove around the block, before shooting himself, sources said.

The alleged gunman was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition.

The motive in the incident was unclear.

The relationship between the alleged gunman and the victims was not known late Friday.
