Search On For Police Impersonator Robbers Terrorizing Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were asking the public to help them find two suspects who pretended to be police officers as they stormed into Queens businesses and robbed them.

The incidents happened between March 8 and this past Monday. Police said in each incident, the suspects enter the businesses with firearms and shields, claim to be police officers, tie up the victims, and take off with money and electronics.

The suspects have covered a wide area of Queens – striking in Flushing, Jamaica and Long Island City, police said.

The first incident happened around 5:40 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in a business at 141-05 Cherry Ave. in Flushing. The second happened around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at the Body Works Salon at 80-30 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica.

The third incident happened around 12:15 a.m. Monday at the Charming Spa Salon, at 30-78 Steinway St. in Long Island City.

Police have released a surveillance video from the second incident.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
