Alleged Drunk Driver Kills 1, Injures 3 In New Jersey Turnpike Crash

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- One man was killed and three people were injured when a car driven by an accused drunken driver struck a concrete barrier on the New Jersey Turnpike in northern New Jersey.

State police tell The Star-Ledger that the crash occurred around 1:25 a.m. Sunday in a northbound lane in Newark.

The man who was killed was ejected when the driver lost control of the car and struck the barrier. Another male passenger suffered a severe neck injury, while two women in the car suffered undisclosed injuries.

It was not immediately clear if the driver was among those injured, but authorities say she has been charged with drunken driving.

The names of the people involved in the accident have not been disclosed.
