More Than Two Dozen Animals Turned In At Suffolk County Amnesty Event

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Monkeys and turtles and a rattlesnake, oh my!

The Suffolk County SPCA says more than two dozen animals were turned in Sunday at an amnesty event. They include both reptiles and mammals that cannot legally be kept as pets.

The event on Saturday brought in 25 animals. They include two common marmoset monkeys, an albino western diamond rattlesnake, and a common snapping turtle.

Eight box turtles, a green anaconda, four boa constrictors, a pigeon, one alligator snapping turtle, a pair of African spurred tortoises, and an alligator were also turned in.

People were allowed to turn in the animals without fear of prosecution.
