Sexting Scandal Could Mean Child Porn Charges For NJ Middle School Students

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J.(CBSNewYork) -- A disturbing school sexting scandal could lead to child pornography charges for some New Jersey middle school students.

Nude photos of girls were found on the cell phones of students at William Anin Middle School in Bernards Township, CBS 2 reported.

The girls took the explicit selfies that were then sent to other students, police said.

The students were given until Sunday to turn over the cell phones containing the offense photos.

"It's a healthy reminder to once in a while do a little random check on your kids and sit down and talk to them about inappropriate content and not storing it, saving it," Superintendent, Nick Markarian said.

Police first learned about the photos when they were contacted by a concerned parent.
