WATCH: Royals TV Announcer Mistakes The Moon For A Planet

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Nobody said Rex Hudler was an astronomer. 

But this is pretty embarrassing.

On Tuesday night, the Royals' television broadcaster mistook the moon for a planet.

Seriously.

The camera zoomed in on the moon, to which Hudler said, "It's a beautiful planet."

Play-by-play man Ryan Lefebvre waited  a few seconds -- likely in amazement -- before awkwardly responding, "Well, it's a moon."

Hudler, who played for the Yankees in 1984 and 1985, didn't seem entirely convinced.

"That looks like a planet to me," Hudler responded.

Stick to baseball, Rex. Stick to baseball.
