Police: Mugger Robs Man In Inwood, Demands More Money And Shoots Him In The Leg

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A mugger was dissatisfied with his haul so he shot his victim in the leg, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place on West 204th Street Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect followed the victim and his girlfriend after they used an ATM, sources told CBS 2.

The gunman pulled out a pistol and demanded money. When the victim handed the mugger $40, the mugger demanded more, and shot the victim once in the leg, police said.

The victim gave the mugger $260 more after being shot. He was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The mugger drove off in a black, four door sedan northbound on Sherman Avenue, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 25-30, 5'8"-5'10", 160 lbs, with a mustache and a beard. He is partially bald and was last seen wearing a light t-shirt, dark jeans and dark sneakers.
