Video Captures Tourists On Sightseeing Bus Getting Soaked By Open Hydrants
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Talk about raining on someone's parade.
A video making the rounds on the Internet captures a rough ride for some tourists aboard a sightseeing bus.
The video was uploaded to Facebook on July 8 with the title "Welcome to New York."
The video shows a double-decker sightseeing bus driving down the street with two open hydrants.
The group of people standing near the open hydrants then appear to point the jets of water at the bus, soaking those sitting on the open second tier.
Pedestrians watching the incident can be heard laughing in the video.
Gray Line New York Tours head of global integrated marketing and media David Chien told CBS 2 the incident happened in Harlem, but an exact address was not available.
"It certainly wasn't part of the tour and our customers saw first-hand the many facets of daily New York City life!" Chien said in a statement. "That is why every tour is a unique experience."
Chien added that there have been no other incidents like this.
In 2013, New York City welcomed a record 54.3 million visitors, generating nearly $60 billion for the city, including an estimated $7.5 billion in taxes. That spending saved every New York City household roughly $1,500 in taxes.
Tourism also has been credited with creating more than 300,000 jobs in New York City.
