Man Charged With 'Upskirting' At Hackensack Target Store

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey man is behind bars, charged with using a mirror to look up women's skirts at a Hackensack Target store.

As CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported, Christian Crews, 34, was arrested after employees caught him allegedly trying to peek up skirts by placing a mirror in a hand-held shopping basket and walking near women. He then took pictures of the reflection, police said.

Women shopping at the store Friday night said they are horrified by such a bold invasion of privacy.

"I can't even imagine that happening to me," said shopper Nicole Ramirez. "That's disgusting."

"It's scary that you can't even walk around in a skirt or a dress and have to be worried about the people that are around," said shopper Dineen Belfiore.

"It's a public place," added Justine Sgarella. "You come here. You want to shop. You don't really want to have to worry about stuff like that."

"You don't know if it's a precursor to something more serious," another woman said.

This isn't the first time Crews has been accused of "upskirting." Police say he was arrested at the same Hackensack Target in 2011. He also was arrested in Paramus, Westwood and Nevada.

Crews was being held Friday night in the Bergen County Jail. He faces three counts of invasion of privacy.
