Report: Attendant Accused Of 'Borrowing' From LES Garage For Joyride

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In what could have been a scene out of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," a published report Saturday said parking garage attendant on the Lower East Side allegedly took a customer's vehicle for a multi-borough joyride.

As WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported, a New York Post report said Aneury Collado Garcia, 23, was accused of "borrowing" the Range Rover belonging to businessman Alexis Nataf, 36, from the iPark garage at Allen and Grand streets on June 21.

A police source told the newspaper that Nataf went back to pick up the sport-utility vehicle and found it was not there. Garcia allegedly took the vehicle for a drive all the way to Queens, where he allegedly went home to clean his apartment, the newspaper reported.

The vehicle was eventually returned and Nataf initially did not press charges, the newspaper reported. But Nataf told the Post the parking garage manager sided with the employee, and said Nataf gave him permission to take the SUV off the property to get cleaned and waxed.

A spokesman for the garage told the newspaper that Garcia never drove the vehicle to his home.

Garcia was arrested five days later, and has now been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, the newspaper reported.
