Authorities Identify Woman Killed In Essex Fells Fire

ESSEX FELLS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman who died in a fire in Essex Fells, New Jersey this past weekend has been identified.

The Essex County Prosecutor's office on Monday identified the woman who died in the fire on Fells Road in Essex Fells as Michelle Meoli, 60.

Firefighters responded to the home around 2:35 a.m. Sunday, the Essex County prosecutor's office said. The woman was soon found in the home and rushed to Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, where she died shortly after 4 a.m, NJ.com reported.

A cause and manner of death has not been determined.

It appeared that the woman was alone in the home when the fire started, authorities said this past weekend.

The investigation into the fire continued Monday evening, but Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly said the cause did not appear to be suspicious.
