L.I. Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Robbery That Led To Fatal Shooting

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island man has pleaded guilty to masterminding an attempted robbery in 2009 that led to a fatal shooting.

John Moglia, of Sayville, pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery in interference of interstate commerce.

Newsday says he admitted planning the 2009 attempted robbery of a Bohemia home where Steven Privetera, an accused marijuana dealer, lived. The man's father was shot to death while intervening in the robbery. Prosecutors say the father wasn't involved in any drug dealing.

Moglia orchestrated the robbery but wasn't present during the killing, The Associated Press reported.

Prosecutors say he agreed to accept a sentence of 20 years in prison.
