NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Well this is a new one.

Last week, rapper Drake performed at the OVO Fest in Toronto.

Who was in attendance to take in the show? None other than the reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant.

Drake is a massive basketball fan, and he took to the mic to announce that the basketball star was in the crowd.

"Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something," the hip-hip artist told his audience. "You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen."

The fans erupted, and chants of "KD! KD! KD! KD!" were deafening.

Harmless, right?

Not so much.

It just so happens that Drake holds the position of global ambassador for the Raptors. And being that Durant is currently under contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the organization is reportedly in some trouble.

Hey, at least Durant had fun at the concert.
