Hazmat Team Sent After Radioactive Material Is Found In Impounded Car

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A hazardous materials team was sent to the tow pound at Pier 76 on the Hudson River Monday afternoon, after a vehicle containing radioactive material was discovered.

The FDNY was sent to the tow pound at Twelfth Avenue and West 38th Street around the beginning of the Monday afternoon rush, CBS 2 reported.

Police reported the vehicle contained a case that was labeled "radioactive."

Police said a driver left a container in the car with radioactive soil samples.

There were no injuries or evacuations when the vehicle was found.
