Report: NYPD Officer Accused Of Assaulting Wife In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Wednesday, reportedly on allegations that he assaulted his wife.

Officer Dean Roberts, 38, was arrested around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in Brooklyn, the NYPD said. He was charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault.

Police did not provide further details. But the New York Daily News reported the arrest followed a run-in between Roberts and his wife in their Brooklyn home around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police alleged the couple was arguing when Roberts allegedly attacked his wife and left her with pains to her arm and shoulders, the newspaper reported.

Roberts was also accused of refusing to let his wife use her cellphone to call 911, or leave their home, the newspaper reported.
