Adoptapalooza Returns to Union Square

New York (CBSNewYork)  The mega pet adoption event known as Adoptapalooza is back in Union Square Park on Sunday, September 7.

This annual event is presented by the Mayor's Alliance for New York City's Animals in conjunction with the Petco Foundation and features 300 dogs, cats, and rabbits, available for adoption from over 40 Alliance Participating Organizations.

Adoptapalooza Returns to Union Square

In addition to the pets adoptions, Adoptapalooza will feature a Kids' Korner with face painting, glitter tattoos, and beaded bracelets, hosted by Rock & Rawhide, free dog training sessions by Petco certified trainers on the Natural Balance field, a special performance by Norman the Natural Balance Scooter Dog, and Free photos with your pet at the photo booth hosted by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Petco Foundation, and Rover.com.

Free and low cost services for prospective pet adopters include: Free ID tags, $25 micro chipping, dog licensing from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and emergency preparedness tips for families with pets from the New York City Office of Emergency Management/Ready New York.
