Police: Murder Suspect Arrested After Officers Witness Brooklyn Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say a killer is in custody after officers saw him shoot a man dead in Brooklyn and then try to hide the gun.

The shooting happened Saturday morning in Brownsville.

Two plainclothes officers were on patrol when they witnessed the shooting, police said.

According to police, as the officers approached the suspect, he crouched behind a parked car and tried to ditch the gun.

The officers arrested the man and found the .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver under the car.

The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died. He was identified as 34-year-old Damon Page, of Englewood, New Jersey.

Terrell Williams, 23, of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

No information on a lawyer for Williams was available.
