Long Island Business Owner Seeks Reimbursement From PSEG Over Lost Revenue
MANHASSET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Manhasset gas station owner has filed a claim against PSEG Long Island seeking reimbursement after he said he lost tens of thousands in revenue while the utility installed new poles near his business.
John DeMeo, who owns the Mobile gas station located at Maple Street and Northern Boulevard, said PSEG Long Island closed the street next to his business, blocking customers from getting to his gas pumps and costing him tens of thousands of dollars, 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported.

"Blocking my station, parked on my property," he said. "We lost 78,000 gallons worth of sales over the four months."
Now, DeMeo is demanding $42,000 from the utility as compensation for his lost revenue.
PSEG Long Island spokesman Jeffrey Weir called DeMeo's claim "meritless," Rivera reported.
Weir said DeMeo's claim is the first the utility has received from a business owner seeking reimbursement and added that the utility will vigorously defend ratepayers against such claims.
