Attorney: Woman Was Assaulted By Off-Duty Cop Working Security At Atlantic City Casino

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey woman said she was roughed up by an off-duty police officer working security at an Atlantic City casino, and it was all caught on camera.

The woman is now suing the city and the Atlantic City Police Department.

As CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez reported, Amy Walsh of Metuchen, New Jersey, was still shaken up Thursday night after being detained by security guards at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City.

"It was brutal," Walsh said. "I really did fear for my life in that moment."

A surveillance video inside a Harrah's holding cell shows an off-duty Atlantic City police officer, contracted to do casino security, putting his hand on Walsh's neck and then pinning her down.

Seconds later, he is seen shoving her face against the wall.

"I didn't know why I was being treated the way I was; what I could have done -- possibly done -- to be treated that way," Walsh said.

The 26-year-old registered nurse said she was at the pool at Harrah's after dark while hosting a bachelorette party in 2012. When she and her party complained about a minor seating issue, Walsh said she was thrown out of the club.

The surveillance video showed guards dragging Walsh barefoot through the video.

"I don't care what the circumstances are. This is assault," said attorney Alexa D'Amato Barrera. "And assault by a man against a woman -- unacceptable -- especially from a man wearing a badge."

Walsh was charged with resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and disorderly conduct. The charges were all later dropped.

The casino said it could not comment on pending litigation, but said its "security personnel are trained to use the least amount of force required to manage any particular incident."

Walsh claimed the force used by the officer was excessive.
