The bridge will close from 9 p.m. Friday until 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The Port Authority’s free weekend shuttle service will be suspended on Saturday. It will operate on Friday and Sunday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Motorists should consider using the Goethals Bridge.

The closure is part of a $1.3 billion project to raise the roadway to give larger ships access to New York and New Jersey ports. The new bridge roadway will have wider lanes and a median.
