Desperate Search For Missing Staten Island Man Continues

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A desperate search continues for a missing Staten Island man.

John Casalaspro has been missing for nearly a week and his parents are putting up flyers asking for help finding him.

The 25-year-old disappeared Friday. He had been hanging out with friends at Richmond Terrace and Bard Avenue.

As CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported, the family has been gathering at the nearby Kill Van Kull every day since he has gone missing.

"It feels like one long day. Nobody is sleeping, nobody's working, everybody's just searching," John's sister, Jennifer Casalaspro, said.

His sister said John was last seen on the rocks with three friends in the early hours of October 10.

"They went out after work on Thursday and just into the morning and that's really all we know," Jennifer said.

The friends told the family he walked away from the group around 1 a.m. and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

"I just want the truth, I want answers. I want to find my cousin. I want him to come home," Steve Demerac said.

Casalaspro's family has many questions for the friends he was with.

Right now, police tell CBS 2 his disappearance is still an active investigation.

Casalaspro is described as having  hazel eyes, is 5-foot-5, 130 pounds and has dark hair.

"Whether he's alive or he's dead, our worry is we're not going to find him. It's been too long already," Demerac said.

Casalaspro's family plans to hold a vigil in the  spot he was last seen on Friday night, hoping people who may have seen him will turn up and speak out with information.
