CBS 2 Exclusive: Woman Injured In Drive-By Shooting On Long Island

WYANDANCH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was injured in a drive-by shooting that targeted a home on Long Island Saturday night.

"I woke up to gunshots. It was loud, very loud," said Nathalie Narcisse.

As CBS 2's Scott Rapoport exclusively reported, bullet holes can be seen in the walls of Narcisse's home on Henry Street in Wyandanch. Officials said at least 10 shots were fired at the house that she shares with her father, mother and sister.

The bandages on Narcisse's leg and thigh are a constant, sobering reminder of how close she came to death.

"I could have died," she said.

The 26-year-old said she was asleep in her bedroom when she woke to gunfire and a hot, searing pain she couldn't immediately identify.

"I got up. There was blood on the bed. I got up and realized I'd been shot in the leg," she said.

Following the barrage of bullets, Narcisse was rushed to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Now, the Narcisse family is on edge, yet baffled, Rapoport reported. They said they don't know who or why anyone would do this.

Police said it does not appear that Narcisse was the intended target of the shooting. But that does little to quiet the family's anxiety and apprehension.

"I'm afraid -- that I don't know if this person is gonna come back," Narcisse said.

Narcisse said her family believes somebody must have targeted the wrong house.
