After receiving care at My Pets Vet in Huntington, Miss Harper was put up for adoption and thousands of people from around the world applied.
As 1010 WINS’ Sonia Rincon reported, Donna Kramer of My Pets Vet said the office tried to get Miss Harper a prosthetic leg.
“But with her rambunctious personality, that didn’t work,” Kramer said.
The wounds have healed, and Miss Harper is able to get around on three legs.
Now, Miss Harper has gone home with the Roberts family from Bellmore.
“We applied and we were fortunate enough to get the phone call, ” said Miss Harper’s new owner, Stephen Roberts. “She was introduced to our other dog, we have a 3-year-old pit bull. She stayed with us for a few days and everything worked out and then she ended up staying.”
Those accused of abusing Miss Harper have a court date next month.
“I would like to see them be put in jail, which they deserve,” Roberts said. “If you could do that to an animal, you’ve gotta be heartless.”
“Miss Harper’s life had a horrific start and it is wonderful that it now has a happy ending,” stated Bob Sowers, president of the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
