NYC Marathon Runners Carb Up At Pasta Dinner

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Thousands of hungry runners packed into Central Park a day ahead of the New York City Marathon.

"Having a great time, eating some pasta, carbing up," Chris Weiller said, vice president of the New York Road Runners.

Around 15,000 people fueled up before taking to the city streets Sunday morning. Organizers cooked 5,000 pounds of pasta and 3,000 pounds of chicken.

A tent protected people from the rain as everyone enjoyed the food and live entertainment.

"This is amazing, it's so many people, it's just a really impressive set up they've got here, all the layout and all the work that's gone into it," one runner from Las Vegas told 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten.

While the rain is clearing out tonight, runners will face some pretty stiff winds and cold temperatures tomorrow morning.
