Violinist Charlie Siem Set To Play Carnegie Hall

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Many consider Charlie Siem one of the brightest young stars in the world of classical music.

The 28-year-old will be performing Monday night as part of "Luz de Luna," a piano, violin and dance concert at Carnegie Hall.

Siem began playing the violin at age 3.

"I was inspired to start when I was 3 because I heard it in my mum's car," the British violinist told CBS2's Andrea Grymes. "She used to put these cassettes on. And I was transported by the sound. It was so magical, and I thought I would just love to play the violin."

Siem has played with symphonies from around the world and pop stars, including The Who and Bryan Adams.

He said his favorite music to play is Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms.

"For me, there's a depth in that music that is very special," Siem said.
