Parents Can Post Photos Of Newborns On New Jersey Billboard

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The sharing of baby photos is moving to a whole new level.

Parents whose baby is born at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Jersey are being given the opportunity to post a picture of their newborn -- or newborns, in the case of multiple births -- to a large digital billboard on Route 1 in West Windsor.

The hospital's Marketing Director Michelle Lazzarotti told 1010 WINS it's all been made possible by a Facebook app called "Saint Peter's Delivers!"

"They can use this Facebook app to upload their baby's image and basically create a digital billboard," Lazzarotti told 1010 WINS. "It is then sent to us electronically and we're able to then create this live digital billboard on Route 1 for community members to see."

"Because parents are already using social media outlets to promote their baby's birth and because we have so many families who choose St. Peter's as the place to deliver their babies, we just thought it an ideal opportunity to partner with them in sharing the news," Lazzarotti added.

Lazzarotti said parents are excited to share their news on a billboard.

"They're excited now to be able tell their family and friends to pass by this digital board on a heavily trafficked roadway and there's their baby's image right there for all to see," Lazzarotti said.

The billboard is visible from both the northbound and southbound lanes.
