Drew Bledsoe On Jets: 'That's Where Quarterbacks Go To Die'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Jets have not had much luck at the quarterback position since the days of the great Joe Namath.

Yeah, that was a long time ago.

And in case any of you Jets fans forgot this little piece of information, former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe was on the air on Wednesday afternoon to remind you.

Yes, Geno Smith was a disaster this season. But before him there was one Mark Sanchez. Sanchez's career with New York began brilliantly, but it quickly went downhill.

After four seasons with Gang Green -- two of which ended a game shy of a Super Bowl appearance -- the former first-round pick was released by the Jets in March.

He subsequently signed with the Eagles, and has been terrific filling in for the injured Nick Foles.

Bledsoe joined 94WIP's Anthony Gargano & Rob Ellis on Thursday to discuss Sanchez's success, and he took a serious jab at the Jets in the process.

"I'm just so genuinely happy for Mark Sanchez," Bledsoe told Anthony & Rob. "The guy was absolutely just thrown under the bus and backed over and run over again in New York."

And then Bledsoe took a shot at the Jets' historical woes under center.

"To see Mark go from a situation in New York, that was just … that's where quarterbacks go to die," Bledsoe said. "Who's had a successful season as a quarterback for the Jets? Who's the last one? Probably Chad Pennington? I can't think of who's been successful for the Jets."

Ouch.
