Police: Man Steals Car From 73-Year-Old Woman At Long Island Gas Station

MASTIC, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who they said stole a car from a 73-year-old woman at a gas station on Long Island last month.

The victim was trying to pump gas when the suspect threw her to the ground, took her keys and drove off with her car, police said.

It happened on Oct. 29 at an Exxon station on Montauk Highway in Mastic.

The suspect is described by police as a white man in his early 40s, approximately 6-feet to 6-feet-3-inches tall, bald with a goatee. He was wearing a Tommy Hilfiger hooded sweatshirt with a zipper, blue jeans and work boots, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
