Not Backing Down: Gov. Christie Will Travel To Texas To Root For Cowboys

PHILADELPHIA (CBSNewYork/AP) — The flak Gov. Chris Christie faced last Sunday night apparently wasn't enough.

Christie called into SportsRadio 94WIP in Philadelphia Thursday to again defend his Dallas Cowboys fandom. He says he's planning to travel to Dallas for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Christie told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show team that he'll be sitting in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones's box again.

CHRISTIE ON 94WIP: 'EAGLES FANS WERE YELLING UNSPEAKABLE THINGS AT ME'

Christie received an onslaught of social media criticism last weekend when he was spotted with Jones rooting for the team during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I will tell you, there were some fans sitting below Jerry's box that were yelling fairly unspeakable things at me," Christie told Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show. "But you know, that's part of the game."

Co-host Al Morganti likened the move to watching video of a cousin robbing a Wawa.

But Christie says he's been a Cowboys fan since he was a kid and isn't apologizing for his allegiances.

"I don't care how it played, it's who I am," said Christie. "I'm another fan. I was a Cowboys fan before I was the Governor of New Jersey, and I'll be a Cowboys fan long after I'm the Governor of New Jersey."
