NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A Bronx teenÂ has been arrested and charged after allegedly firing off gunshots and pointing his weapon at a police officer.

Two uniformed officers on the violence reduction foot post reported hearing several gunshots nearÂ 140th Street and Cypress AvenueÂ at around 10:50 p.m.
Two other officers responded to the area and canvassed for a possible suspect, police said. A motorist atÂ 138th Street told the officers that the person responsible for the gunfire was a male wearing a black jacket across the street.
Police said when the officers began to approach the suspect, he ran towardÂ 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard, at which time respondingÂ PSA 7 officers engaged him and told him to drop his weapon.
That’s when the man turned toward an officer while pointing his gun, aÂ .357 Smith and Wesson revolver,Â who had taken cover behind a parked vehicle, police said.

Police said the officers didn’t fire any shots during the confrontation and there were no injuries reported.
The suspect,Â 17-year-oldÂ RaymondÂ Leonardo, has been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer and reckless endangerment.
