BALTIMORE (CBSNewYork/AP) — The woman who was shot in the abdomen by the man who went on to kill two NYPD officers was released from a Maryland hospital Tuesday.

Officials said Tuesday that Shaneka Thompson, 29, was released from the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Unit, where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police said Thompson was shot in her Baltimore County apartment by her ex-boyfriend Ismaaiyl Brinsley on Dec. 20.

Brinsley then boarded a bus to New York, police said. He ambushed officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu as they sat in their police car in Brooklyn, and shot and killed them, police said.

Brinsley later killed himself.
