Authorities said a sergeant attempted to stop the 26-year-old in Commack on Route 25 at around 4 a.m.

But instead of complying, the sergeant said Wiggins backed into the police cruiser several times with his Toyota Avalon before speeding off.

Officers used stop sticks to puncture the suspect's tires, but police said Wiggins was still able to drive his car until he crashed on Longfellow Drive in Huntington Station.

Following the crash, Wiggins fled on foot and was arrested during the chase.

Wiggins is charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful fleeing a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said he will be held overnight and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
