NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The death of a baby boy in the East Harlem last week has been ruled a homicide, police said Tuesday.
Deon McNeil, who was just 23 months old, was found bruised and unconscious Friday night in his home in the Washington Houses public housing development, at 97th Street and Second Avenue, police said. When police arrived, they reportedly found the child, Deon McNeil, battered and bleeding in his brother’s arms, 1010 WINS’ Derricke Dennis reported this past weekend.
Deon was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Following an autopsy by the New York City Medical Examiner’s office, the incident was ruled a homicide, police said.
Deon’s mother was questioned by police while investigators before the Medical Examiner’s office made a ruling about the cause of death, Dennis reported this past weekend.READ MORE: Giants' Defense Forces 4 Turnovers In Win Over Eagles
Police said Tuesday that the investigation was ongoing and did not report any arrests or people in custody.
The other children that were home at the time were placed in their grandparents’ care, Dennis reported.
