NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police have released images of a man they want to talk to after a deadly stabbing in Times Square.

Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said a 36-year-old man was stabbed during a fight in the New Star Cafe on Seventh Avenue, CBS2’s Ilana Gold reported.

The man, who had been stabbed twice in the torso, then stumbled out of the restaurant and was found unconscious on the sidewalk on West 40th Street, police said.

The homicide in Midtown has prompted Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce to ask the public for help in identifying suspects in other homicides across the city, including a marijuana-related robbery in Brooklyn and argument over a woman on Staten Island that both ended in homicide.

Shootings city-wide have increased 19 percent over the same period last year, WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported.
