Middlesex County, N.J. Basketball Coach Accused Of Sex Assault

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former college basketball coach in Middlesex County, New Jersey has been charged with sexually assaulting two boys and engaging in sexually explicit conversations with two others, authorities said Thursday.

A 25-count indictment against Christopher Tarver, 43, of Jackson Township was handed up this week, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's office.

Prosecutor Andrew Carey said Tarver coached at Middlesex County College from 2006 to 2014. He also served as recreation director in Dunellen and North Plainfield.

Tarver was charged with crimes including official misconduct, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.

Some of the assaults allegedly occurred at the college and the Dunellen Recreation Center in 2010 and 2011. He's also charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old in 1995.

An attorney representing Tarver didn't immediately comment on the indictment. A message left at a phone listing for Tarver wasn't immediately returned Thursday.
