NYC Man's Death 5 Decades After Stabbing Ruled A Homicide
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In the late 1950s, Antonio Ciccarello, a porter on his way to work early one morning, was stabbed by an attacker near his home on the Lower East Side.
He went to the hospital for surgery, but never filed a police report. The story became part of family lore.

But after the 97-year-old died in September 2014, the medical examiner ruled his death a homicide, citing complications from the stabbing in 1958 or 1959, The New York Times reported.
It may be the oldest such reclassified homicide ever recorded by the city.
Two NYPD detectives are investigating the case. But after five decades, witnesses and evidence are hard to come by.
The death was filed by police among the record-low 332 murders in New York City last year.
