Police Search For Gunman In Shooting That Killed Bedford-Stuyvesant Store Employee

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police released a new surveillance photo and video clip Wednesday in connection with a shooting that left a man dead, in the robbery of a Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn grocery store this past weekend.

Officers were called around 6:30 p.m. Sunday after a shooting at the Las Vegas Grocery store, at 54 Howard Ave. in Brooklyn.

They found Rafael Pujols, 49, at the scene with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Pujols was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Police believe an unknown male suspect stormed into the store and demanded money at gunpoint, police said. The suspect then fired his handgun and shot Pujols, who worked at the store, police said.

The suspect ran off empty-handed, police said. He was described as a black male standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 275 pounds, with a medium complexion and brown eyes.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black mask, a black baseball cap with silver brim, a black Champion hooded sweatshirt, dark gloves, black jeans and black boots, police said. He was armed with a silver revolver.

He also appeared to have bowed legs and walked with a limp, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
