WATCH: Nate Archibald Talks NBA's 'History Of NYC Basketball' Map

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Basketball in New York City has great history and tradition.

And in honor of NBA All-Star Weekend coming to The Big Apple, the NBA has released an interactive map entitled "A History Of New York City Basketball."

The map is split up by borough, where you can find iconic places and faces from Brooklyn to Staten Island. All the legendary courts and players from Gotham are represented, as well as those who starred for the Knicks and made names for themselves as street players.

You could spend hours perusing the map, which includes detailed write-ups and videos.

"There's a lot of guys -- and I don't know everybody on there -- and there's some guys that, believe it or not, played in the 40s and the 50s, and I'm looking at this map and it's incredible," Hall of Famer Nate Archibald told WFAN hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Monday morning. "Five-hundred legends. Players, coaches, owners, managers. The NBA did something that's incredible."

Archibald, nicknamed "Tiny," is very much a part of New York's illustrious basketball history. The six-time NBA All-Star grew up in the South Bronx and attended DeWitt Clinton High School.

KNICKS FAN ON DOLAN'S EMAIL: 'EVERYTHING HE SAID TO ME WAS A JOKE

"This map is incredible," Archibald told Boomer & Carton after giving his thoughts on the lowly Knicks. "I'm not getting off that subject. This map is incredible!"

You can check out the map here.

"I'm not gonna brag on one borough," Archibald said. "You've got Brooklyn that probably has the most NBA players and coaches. But I'm gonna brag on a school way up in the Bronx. It's called DeWitt Clinton High School. We had Dolph Schayes, Tom Henderson, Ricky Sobers, Butch Lee, Ron Behagen.

"We have, and I know this. I want somebody to challenge me on this. We have more pro guys, NBA and ABA, than any other school in New York State ... Tell somebody to challenge that! ... You can get a duplicate of this on NBA.com, but 5,000 of these posters are going to the community-based schools for free."

The Slam Dunk Contest will be held at Barclays Center on Saturday night, and the All-Star Game will take place at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.
