Lawsuit: Woman Finds 2-Inch Hook In Fish Served At Manhattan Restaurant

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman is suing an Italian restaurant in Manhattan after she found a metal hook in her fish, according to a lawsuit.

Aliona Russo and her husband were having dinner at Villagio on the Park, located at 40 Central Park South, in August when she took a bite of her branzino and noticed something wasn't right.

"She put the fish into her hand and noticed a 2-inch hook and line attached to the part of the fish that she was chewing on," Russo's attorney Jay Dankner told WCBS 880's Alex Silverman. "The entire table couldn't believe it."

Russo got an apology from the staff, but then the restaurant refused to pay for anything, including her dental bill, which he finds shocking and the Russos find insulting, Dankner said.

"The restaurant and its representative says, 'Hey, it's not our fault,' which defies the imagination, I would say," Dankner said. "The restaurant offered and served a fish with a 2-inch hook in it, I think that's enough for them to try to make it right."

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

"She hasn't had fish since then and she still dreams of this thing so I would say that the psychological manifestations exceed the physical," Dankner said.

WCBS 880 is awaiting a response from the restaurant and its parent company.
