2/14 CBS2 Saturday Evening Weather Headlines

By Mark D. McIntyre Jr.
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good evening all! Our storm is getting into full gear, with the highest amounts over eastern Long Island/coastal Connecticut into New England. Suffolk County is under a blizzard warning where gusts of 55-60 mph will blow snow around, greatly reducing visibilities. High wind warnings for the rest of us, with similarly strong wind gusts tonight through the day tomorrow.

Snow will be periodic overnight but will come down in heavy bursts. Expect some accumulations in the City, but the winds whipping around will make it hard to measure. Snow moves out super quickly Sunday morning, but the winds and the brutal cold stick around. We'll only top out in the teens in NYC, but strong NW winds will lend to a sub-zero chill. Good day for penguins or polar bears!

Sunday night into Monday - get ready. Looks like the coldest air we've had in a very long time. Going for a low of 3 in the city with sub-zero temps in the suburbs. Some some record minimum highs could be set. Mostly sunny skies on Monday, but staying frigid with highs only in upper teens.

Check back in tonight for the latest on the snow, wind and bone-chilling cold!
