Nets' Plumlee Loses Out To Minnesota's LaVine In Dunk Contest

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Minnesota's Zach LaVine put on a spectacular aerial display to take home the dunk competition during All-Star Saturday night, beating out the Nets' Mason Plumlee and two others.

LaVine, the 19-year-old Timberwolves rookie, scored a perfect 100 in the opening round highlighted by a threw-the-legs, one-handed reverse slam on his first attempt.

He had a final round of 94 to overtake Orlando's Victor Oladipo, who struggled to convert his first attempt and finished with a 72 in the championship round.

Plumlee, the Nets' second-year center, had been enthusiastic about participating.

"I forget how big the slam dunk contest is," Plumlee told the Daily News on Friday. "Everybody is going to tune in. Everybody is going to see what you're going to do. So there's a lot of pressure."

Plumlee had been the longest shot to win the event, installed as a 7-to-1 underdog by Bovada.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo also participated.

Last year's slam-dunk champion was Washington point guard John Wall.
